Sophie started her interest in triathlon at a young age. She started racing in kids of steel triathlons at 10 years old. In school, she participated on swim teams, cross country and track and field. In high school she decided to take her training more seriously. She started working with a triathlon coach and joined the National Cycling Center of Hamilton. Sophie now races as an Elite in the Long- Course Multisport Triathlon series. She was a sponsored athlete by 365 Cycling for two years and has now moved on to be one of their Ambassadors for 2017. Realizing her true passion for coaching and triathlon, Sophie decided to change career paths. She was previously enrolled in the Environmental Design program at OCAD University for one year. As a result of her experiences in Triathlon she decided to pursue a career in triathlon and work towards being a performance coach for triathlon, cycling and running. Sophie now attends Mohawk College in the Health,Wellness, and Fitness program. She is an NCCP certified Community Coach and is working towards a Fitness Instructor Specialist designation through CanFitPro. She leads indoor spin classes for the Kincardine Triathlon Club where she has been a member since 2007. With an interest in nutrition and massage therapy, she continues to expand her knowledge in coaching and triathlon. She has been an active Triathlon Ontario member for 10 years and continues to better her personal fitness and health. She works and trains closely with others who are actively looking to better their performance.
