The end of 2021 has, once again, tested the resilience of everyone. Fortunately, as endurance athletes, we have built a strong foundation and have our ‘tribe’ and training as an outlet to keep us moving forward.
It’s worth stopping every so often, however, to acknowledge that capacity for resilience after so many hours of focusing on our pace or watts or reps. We are building so much more than our physical strength!
Mental wellness comes in many ways and maintaining it happens each day – sometimes in each moment. Forcing ourselves to get out the door or on the trainer when we feel emotionally drained comes from knowing that we will feel better for it. Even if we don’t meet our own expectations for the workout. Sometimes the numbers don’t matter, and the points for ‘showing up’ are all that count.
In this holiday season…remember there is always hope.
