Valyermo, California – April 23 to April 29, 2018

 Join CLPT in Valyermo, California in 2018!! This will be a cycling focussed training camp running April 23rd to April 29th, 2018.  We will be based out of Xantusia – home base of, which is in the hamlet of Valyermo, California, and is described as an “endurance sports playground.”  It sits at 4200 feet above sea level in the zone where the Mojave Desert transitions to alpine vegetation.  Your rides and runs throughout the week can take you up to 8000 feet cycling and 9500 feet on running trails. Our home base is 20 minutes from “civilization” and the roads from the end of the driveway are smooth and vacant.  Within six or seven minutes of leaving the property you have options of cycling rolling foothills, twisty ascents and running trails in any direction.Our home base accommodations are at a bed and breakfast which is situated on 13 acres and offers a Jacuzzi, full bike repair shop and bike fit studio.  Coach Al will be offering 30 minute express road or tri bike fits to anyone at the camp who is interested and will be doing a full bike fit demo at some point during the week.

Accommodations and Meals:

Bed and breakfast accommodations at Xantusia in Valyermo, California.  Rooms have 2 beds each and will be shared with another camper.  Situated on 13 acres of land with beautiful cycling roads and running trails within minutes of the house.  Jacuzzi and bike fit studio is on site.

We will have a cook on site for the duration of the camp who will prepare breakfast and dinner for all of us.  Special diets will be accommodated, with advance notice.  Snacks and lunch will be available throughout the day depending on our training schedules.  All food is included in the camp fee for those choosing to stay with us here.

Other accommodations may be available in the neighbouring areas, please contact us for details on this if you wish to stay off-site.


Nearby airports include Ontario, Riverside of Los Angeles, California.  Airport transfer from Los Angeles airport can be arranged from the airport by a van for $150 USD for the van for a round trip, split between the number of people in the van.  The van can carry up to 5 people with bikes and luggage.  Anyone interested in this service should let us know and we can do our best to organize others to share the van with you.

Bike Rental:

Road or tri bike rental is available for $95 USD for anyone who does not want to travel with your bike.

Bike Fit:

Xantusia is the home base of Dan Emplield of Slowtwitch and his bike fit studio is located on site.  Coach Al will be offering a 30 minute express bike fit to anyone at the camp who is interested.  A full bike fit demo will be offered at some point during the week of camp.

Mt. Tremblant – June 2 & 3, 2018

Join CLPT coaches and athletes in Mt Tremblant in June to train on the 70.3 and Ironman bike and run courses!  Whether you are looking for a weekend away of quality run and bike training, or looking to get more familiar with the Ironman and 70.3 race courses, this is your opportunity!


Saturday June 2:

7:30am: Group meeting and introduction
8:00am: Discussion on pacing the course and nutrition for the day
9:00am: 90-180km bike ride on the Mt Tremblant Ironman and 70.3 bike course
T-Run: 30 to 60 minute run off the bike
6:30pm: Group dinner at Coach’s condo (included) and discussion on cycling and running skills
Sunday June 3:
8:00am: 60-180 minute long run on the Mt Tremblant run course
Stretch / Mobility class to follow- Foam Roll Class
12:00pm: Camp wrap up, depart for home!
Cost: $225.00+HST includes: coaching, sports nutrition during the workouts and dinner on Saturday night.
